If the numerator of a fraction is greater than or equal to denominator, then such a fraction is called an improper fraction.
For Example 13/4, 17/12, 125/23, 271/100 ..........
An improper fraction is one in which Numerator (top number) is greater or equal to bottom number(denominator).
Improper fraction results in mixed number. A mixed number is written as a whole number plus fraction.
In simple words improper fraction is always greater than or equal to 1.
