Let us learn about "surface area of rectangular prism"
A rectangular prism is one type of three dimensional objects. It has six sides, which are rectangle in shape.
In a rectangular prism all angles are right angle and opposite faces of rectangular solid are equal. It is also called as right rectangular prism. Let us see how to find the surface area of the rectangular prism using the formula.
Formula to Find the Surface Area:
Surface area (A) = 2(wh + lw + lh) square units
w – Width
h – Height
l – Length
A rectangular prism has 8 vertices, 12 edges and 6 rectangular faces.
In the above figure let us observe
(i)In a rectangular prism the vertices are A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H [here we can observe that a rectangular prism has 8 vertices]
(ii) In a rectangular prism the edges are AB, BC, CD, AD, BE, AF, EF, EG, HF, HG, GC and HD. [here we can observe that a rectangular prism has 12 edges]
(iii) In a rectangular prism the rectangular faces are ABCD, EFGH, DCGH, ABFE, BFGC and AEHD [here we can observe that a rectangular prism has 6 rectangular faces]
In our next blog we shall learn about "volume of a rectangular prism"
